Canadian punk band White Lung has topped numerous “Best Album So Far” lists this year including Exclaim!, Stereogum, Rolling Stone, Vulture, Paste, Consequence of Sound, NME and more for their latest and most mature effort to date – Paradise. Now the band has been shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize alongside artists including Carly Rae Jepsen, Grimes, and Kaytranada.
Today, White Lung has unveiled the music video for ‘Dead Weight’ – directed by John Stavas and co-produced by Deap Vally’s Lindsey Troy. The clip features lead singer Mish Barber-Way head-banging her way through the track in hyper-kinetic fast forward. Much like the song, it’s an all-out assault on the senses and not for the faint of heart, or those prone to seizures.
Stavas has this to say of the treatment: “Dead Weight is such a heavy hitting song and I wanted to make a video that fit its relentless and rhythmic feel. Mish might never want to headbang again. She deserves a neck rub!”
