New York-based soul-pop singer Parson James kicks 2017 off right with the release of a “Sad Song” Remix EP, featuring three new rousing reworking’s of his 2016 single of the same name.

Republic Records recording artist Maty Noyes features on the EP’s lead remix by Domincan-DJ/producers LASH (Charlie Puth, Ryn Weaver, Lost Kings), while LA-based duo Ossian and Olympic Gold Medal-winning British diver-turned producer/DJ Chris Mears round out the collection, each injecting new life into Parson’s soulful track.

Released last fall, “Sad Song” was written by Parson James and produced by Elof Loelv (Rihanna, Icona Pop, Zara Larsson). The South Carolina-born singer-songwriter made his morning show debut last November on NBC’s Today Show, performing a stirring rendition of his infectious pop gem for hosts Kathie Lee and Hoda, as Elvis Duran’s Artist of the Month. Sad Song is a record for anyone and everyone who has been in the tricky position of sacrificing their own happiness for someone else’s.” Explains the 24-year-old songwriter and performer. He continues. “There is true power in realizing your worth and owning it. And even more power in accepting the fact that sometimes, that person you think you are in love with, is just simply not good enough for you.”

2016 was a breakout year for Parson James, following the release of his debut THE TEMPLE EP, which entered the Top 10 of the official iTunes pop charts last summer. Touted as an Artist to Watch by Spotify, based on their listeners’ streaming habits and the official Viral Charts he made his late night television debut on NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers, performing the EP’s title track, “Temple” alongside the LGBT Lavender Light Choir. Parson James’ incredible music and signature sound also made a surprise prime time television appearance, this time with his stunning ballad “Waiting Game” – also taken from THE TEMPLE EP – when it was performed live by contestant finalist Trent Harmon on FOX’s American Idol.

Parson James ended 2016 on a high note, with an exhilarating headline show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg. While he is busy working on his debut album, 2017 is certain to be a big one for the 24-year old singer, with both V Magazine and Teen Vogue calling him an “Artist to Watch in 2017.”

Rick Ross

(January 30, 2017 – New York, NY) – After steadily teasing its release all week on his social media, four-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated 21st century rap legend and Maybach Music Group mastermind Rick Ross shares his brand new single.

Following up 2016’s “Buy Back The Block” [feat. Gucci Mane & 2 Chainz], this is the first official single from his forthcoming ninth full-length album and anxiously awaited Epic Records debut, Rather You Than Me [MMG/Epic Records].

Excitement for “I Think She Like Me” has been building online throughout this past week. On Wednesday, Ross uncovered the single artwork via his Instagram which immediately ignited fans, causing a social media frenzy. He debuted a short clip from the music video, and his followers went wild. Now, he premieres the full video on VEVO. In the visual, he goes from kicking it by the pool at a ritzy waterfront Malibu estate to a sexy masquerade ball steeped in mystery. The song’s soulful production harks back to Teflon Don, while his inimitable gruff delivery carries impenetrable bars between a sultry and sizzling Ty Dolla $ign hook. There’s a lot to like about it!

At midnight, he penned a touching and honest statement about the last eleven years and the release of Rather You Than Me. “This album is more than just another project for me. It’s a product of strength, perseverance and determination. Rather You Than Me is a testimony,” going on to add, “I owed this to my supporters. Y’all that been rocking with me since we came out The Port of Miami. Without you none of this shit really means anything. Rather You Than Me…I hope y’all feel this.” Read the full piece HERE.

“Buy Back The Block” introduced the album with a bang. It already cracked 4 million Spotify streams and counting, while the cinematic music video notched over 11 million YouTube/VEVO views. Complex called it, “A big moment,” while Pitchfork, Spin, and others featured it.

“Untouchable” is the best way to describe Rick Ross’s decade-plus run at the top of rap. Along the way, he achieved five Billboard Top 200 #1 debuts and three #2 debuts, received four Grammy Award® nominations, graced the cover of Rolling Stone twice, and made history more than once. His debut single “Hustlin’” became the “first mastertone ever certified RIAA platinum before the associated album had been released” in the U.S. He sold millions of singles and albums and cemented his status as one of rap’s biggest and brashest voices. Moreover, he founded Maybach Music Group home to Meek Mill, Wale, and more. Signing to Epic Records in 2016, his “untouchable” streak continues with the impending release of his ninth full-length Rather You Than Me.

Nick Grant

(January 10, 2017 – New York, NY) – Buzzing Walterboro, SC rapper Nick Grant will unveil his full-length debut project, Return of The Cool [Epic Records], at all digital retailers on Friday, January 13, 2017. Return of The Cool boasts 12 new tracks, including the latest single “Luxury Vintage Rap,” “Get Up” [feat. WatchTheDuck], “The Sing Along” [feat. Rico Barrino], and more.

To celebrate the release, Grant makes his late-night television debut on CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday, January 16. Be sure to tune in for what promises to be an unforgettable performance!

Offering a glimpse at the MC’s fiery and fresh style, “Luxury Vintage Rap” highlights his wise and wicked wordplay over nineties-style production. With a bulletproof cadence, he serves up slick, sizzling, and scorching bars such as, “I’m cut from Biggie’s Gucci sweater cloth.”

Over the past few months, Grant hit the road and personally built palpable anticipation for the impending release. He turned up at various colleges to sign autographs and promote the album. Visiting numerous cities across the country, he hosted intimate “Access Granted” Silent Listening Party Events. During these gatherings, fans got to experience an exclusive playback of Return of The Cool on Culture Republic/Urban Fetes headphones. Grant would also divulge stories and anecdotes about the record, giving listeners a firsthand perspective on his vision.

Nick Grant also teamed up with Sprite for a four-part video expose entitled P.O.U.R. Report (Purveyors of Urban Reality) #SPRITEPOURREPORTS. In these clips, he discusses his creative process, influences, story, and how hip-hop can make a positive impact on the world. Watch Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4!

Foot Action tapped Grant for an innovative and multi-faceted partnership with Reebok Classics. The retailer filmed three videos with him, going behind-the-scenes at an Atlanta photo shoot, delving into his song “The Jungle,” and getting to know him. He’s also featured in the Lookbook. Meanwhile, Apple Music selected Nick Grant as their New Artist of the Week. The New Artist of the Week program features up-and-coming artists, editorially selected by Apple Music.

BET handpicked Grant as the subject of its next Prelude documentary. Airing January 24 on, the series follows him back to his hometown as well as to Atlanta, GA before culminating on a deep interview and powerful performance. He joins the ranks of past Prelude artists such as Kodak Black and more.

Growing up in the tiny town of Walterboro, SC, Nick Grant found a window to a much bigger world through hip-hop as a kid. He obsessed over classics by Jay-Z, 2Pac, Nas, OutKast, and A Tribe Called Quest, while writing countless rhymes of his own. In 2014, he inked a deal with Culture Republic—run by music industry veterans Jason Geter, Chaka Zulu and Bernard Parks, Jr. February 2016 saw him unleash his ‘88 mixtape featuring collaborations with the likes of Killer Mike and Big K.R.I.T. Soon, he was garnering praise from Vibe, XXL, HipHopDX, Pigeons and Planes, and more in addition to lighting up the 2016 BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher as well as Funk Master Flex’s Hot 97 radio show and Sway in the Morning. In 2017, Grant harks back to rap’s revolutionary era over two decades ago, while bringing a decidedly modern heat of his own. With an impressive production line-up that includes Organized Noize Productions, Karriem Riggins, and DJ Khalil. Get ready for the Return of the Cool.

(Toronto, ON – January 9, 2017) – Montreal-based alt-folk band The Franklin Electric has premiered the video for “I Know The Feeling” via Australian website the music today. Watch + share video here. The band is set to release their highly anticipated sophomore album titled Blue Ceilings on February 24 via Indica Records. Blue Ceilings is now available for pre-order and includes the singles “I Know The Feeling” and  “Walk With You” as instant grat tracks. The quartet who has already amassed more than 2 million streams (Spotify, Deezer) will perform at the The Mod Club on March 30 and will head out on an Australian tour starting this week. Recently, TFE attracted newfound attention and a slew of new fans after their performance on The Bachelorette Canada during a scene filmed at Chateau Vieux-Montreal. See below for a full tour routing.
Shot by one of Canada’s top award winning directors Kristof Brandl (Skrillex, Charlotte Cardin, Monogrenade), the video for “I Know The Feeling” embraces a gritty, indie ‘16mm film hand held’ aesthetic, inciting nostalgia with its wistful ‘90s backdrop. Jon Matte had this to say about the shoot: “The video was a bit unclear in the beginning and came together quickly but I just remember all the rolls of film and how special it was to have a huge crew of extras that all dedicated their time. It became a game of hanging out then freezing on the spot to create the feeling of an old photograph.” Jon shared this quote on the inspiration for the song: “Lyrically, the song revolves around that feeling we can all relate to about regret…being lost and rediscovering ourselves, or trying to hang on to an idea or version of ourselves.  Musically, it’s kind of a blend of folky storytelling with a hip hop backbeat and some Roland Juno synth added for good measure, which seemed to all come together nicely.”
The Franklin Electric’s soaring and anthemic debut album, This Is How I Let You Down, was first released independently before catching the attention of Montreal’s Indica Records (Half Moon Run, Phantogram) who were blown away by the band’s sound. The label reissued the LP in 2014 featuring various remixes and two
new songs to much critical acclaim for both their recording and their incredible chops live. Striking for both its stunning chord changes and mature musings of life and love, the title track’s video quickly racked up over 250,000 Youtube views, launching the band into the spotlight. The Franklin Electric amassed an avid fanbase and rave reviews after spending 2015 playing over 180 shows from Canada to Australia – including 3 tours of Europe alone – opening for the likes of Ben Howard, Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, City & Colour, and Half Moon Run.

The show can be found here:

Due to overwhelming demand, the duo have also added a third New York City show at Terminal 5 on February 27 and have moved their February 8 Vancouver show to the larger PNE Forum. Tickets for Terminal 5 go on sale Friday, January 6 at 12pm ET and tickets for the PNE Forum will be available at 10am PST on January 4. A full list of dates & additional information is below. To purchase tickets, visit

The digital release of Run The Jewels 3, issued three weeks early on Christmas Day as a special surprise gift for their supporters, was met by seismic response from fans and media alike. The free download, and preorders for physical formats can be found at, with physical editions set for release on January 13 in North America and on January 20 internationally. The group issued this statement in conjunction with the early digital release:

“fuck it. we couldn’t help ourselves. it just feels right. after a crazy fucking year and with a full tour about to set off we asked ourselves what we were waiting for… and we just couldn’t come up with a great answer. you’ve been with us since we started this thing and its made such a huge difference in our lives to have your energy and love. thank you. so as a gift to all of you who have allowed us to continue to do what we love: RTJ3. we busted our asses on this one and we think we made something special this round. grab it for free, buy it on any of the digital platforms you like or stream it. physical copies will still be dropping in January as announced but until then: enjoy and we will see you on the road!”

The surprise early release came paired with the premiere of the duo’s upcoming appearance on IFC’s cult favorite comedy show Portlandia. In the skit El-P and Killer Mike meet with Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen to hilariously, and perhaps prophetically, discuss potential surprise album release strategies for Run The Jewels 3. Check it out here and watch its debut on IFC at 10pm on January 5th.

The new album, which earned Pitchfork’s “Best New Music” designation, expands on the relentless back & forth lyricism, indelible chemistry, humor & bombast that Killer Mike & El-P are known & loved for. The album was produced entirely by El-P, with co-production by Little Shalimar & Wilder Zoby. The duo are once again joined by a cadre of talented guests, including Danny Brown, Zack de la Rocha, Tunde Adebimpe (of TV On The Radio), Trina, saxophonist Kamasi Washington and more.

In the two year span between albums, Run The Jewels have transformed from underground stalwarts to a global rap juggernaut, spawning an international art movement (Tag The Jewels), several Marvel comic cover variants (including issues of Deadpool and Luke Cage among others), characters in a video game (Gears of War 4), their own Virtual Reality initiative (VRTJ), multiple awards & accolades (including Pitchfork’s 2014 album of the year, NME’s “Best Festival Band” & “Best International Band”, four A2IM Libera Awards, two UK Music Video Awards, and more), multiple television appearances (including a hilarious Halloween-themed sketch with Stephen Colbert this past October), plus a slate of sold out shows and high profile festival appearances. Their Run the World tour sets off on January 11th with a massive North American campaign, and worldwide dates to follow shortly after.

RTJ3 is essentially the Run The Jewels manifesto, an outpouring of rage and defiance that is never overcome by the moment and never loses sight of the objectives.” – PITCHFORK

“Hearing these two veteran rappers falling ever deeper into sync and endlessly one-upping themselves has been exhilarating, like hopping aboard a mine car hurtling toward Earth’s molten core and howling ‘Eureka!’ all the way down.” – STEREOGUM
